This is the viral moment a clever stray cat waits outside a supermarket before leading the first person it comes across inside to the cat food section.

The incident was filmed by Tania Santos Coy, 32, in the city of Piedras Negras in the northern Mexican state of Coahuila, and the footage was later shared on Facebook where it has gone viral with 3.1 million views.

According to local media, the cat is well known in the area and frequently waits out the Oxxo supermarket for shoppers to come along.

The clever feline then leads them inside the supermarket and over to its favourite range of products.

Santos Coy told Newsflash that she calls the cat Conejo (Rabbit) “because he is white and doesn’t have a tail”.

In the footage, she is seen greeting the cat as it waits patiently on the pavement outside the store.

The cat coolly struts towards the store entrance and leads Santos Coy to a far wall where cat food is on display.

When the shopper picks out the feline’s favourite Felix meal, the cute cat repeatedly paws at it to suggest ‘that’s the one’.

Santos Coy told Newsflash: “There are many different flavours, but his favourite is the tuna one.”
