This harrowing footage of a psychology student being attacked in her own home by a knife wielding rapist while she had been filming a university assignment has been shared online by herself in order to force authorities to act against her attacker.
The incident that has notched up millions of views was filmed at the home of the victim, a student and mother of one, in the town of Apartado in the northern Colombian department of Antioquia.
The victim, Sara Quintero, shared the clip on Instagram on 27th June where it has gone viral with over 3 million views.
She wrote: “He entered my house to rape me!
“Everything was recorded because I was filming a video for a university assignment.
“I managed to escape because I pulled myself away and dragged him down the stairs.
“Help me so this does not go unpunished, as he apparently has a mental disorder and there is not much that can be done, we want to put pressure on the authorities by showing the facts so it does not go unpunished.”
In the footage, Quintero is seen screaming when she suddenly realises an intruder is breaking into her home.
Pointing a small blade at the victim, the suspect tells the woman to get on her knees and then to lie down, which she refuses to do.
The knifeman then leads the woman to another room and only her cries are heard in the background before she reappears on her own to turn off the camera.
Local media said the suspect’s family lives nearby and that he receives treatment at a local psychiatric hospital.
His family has reportedly defended him, explaining that he suffers with bipolar disorder.
Due to his mental health issues, the victim believes justice may not be served, despite claiming that the attack was premeditated.
It is unclear if the victim has reported the incident to the police and whether they are investigating the matter.
