This viral video seen more than 14 million times shows a mob attacking a 61-year-old man who was allegedly caught paying a 16-year-old girl for sex.

The clip filmed in the village of Fantuan, which is in Xincheng County in China’s southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, shows the suspect surnamed Fan being repeatedly punched and kicked by two men.

Fan, 61, is said to have been meeting with his regular partner Ge, 16, and was spotted by disapproving villagers who dragged him out into the open and sounded the alarm.

In the shocking viral video, Fan tries to cover his head as he is attacked, with the injured man then seen lying injured on the ground as the large mob surround him and yell abuse.

Xincheng County police said in a statement that their investigations show Fan and Ge were introduced to one another in July 2018.

The pair had sexual relations “multiple times,” the statement said, adding that Fan would pay Ge in cash every time.

The authorities are still looking into the case and have yet to announce any arrests.

While Fan’s exact condition has not been reported, he and his teenage lover could be punished for offences against the country’s prostitution laws.

The age of consent in mainland China is 14.
