Viral: Impatient Driver Saws Off Level Crossing Barrier

This is the viral moment an impatient motorist puts everyone in danger by sawing off the barrier at a railway crossing because he’s tired of being held in traffic.

The incident was filmed in the city of Funabashi in the eastern Japanese prefecture of Chiba and posted on Twitter where it has been viewed 2.3 million times.

In the footage, the 53-year-old suspect is seen hacking away at a barrier before dumping it on the ground.

He then storms across the rail tracks back to his white people carrier and drives through the level crossing.

According to local media, the man took down the barriers on both sides of the crossing at around 7.15am because he was in a hurry and already angry at being held up in traffic.

Stunned eyewitnesses called the police who arrived on the scene and found the two removed barriers.

After reviewing the CCTV footage, the police identified the driver’s licence plate and charged the 53-year-old man from Ichikawa City with property damage.

Meanwhile, the rail authority suspended train services that pass through the level crossing to prevent a possible accident.

According to the police, the man said that he took down the barriers because he had work to do and he had already been held up in a traffic jam that morning.
