This footage seen 110 million times shows a group of ducks meeting up with their quacking neighbours every morning before waddling off together for a day of fun.

The adorable scenes were filmed by Linyi City resident ‘Xiaolei’, from East China’s Shandong Province, who told Asia Wire he noticed the unusual friendship “a long, long time ago”.

In Xiaolei’s viral clips posted to short-video sharing platform Tik Tok, five of his neighbour’s ducks can be seen walking over before stopping in front of his home.

The ducks quack for a moment before six of his family’s ducks suddenly appear, and the two groups of birds walk off together as one.

This reportedly happens every morning, with Xiaolei finally deciding to capture the phenomenon on film and share it online.

He told Asia Wire: “I started noticing a long, long time ago that our ducks would go out with our neighbour’s ducks.

“I was very surprised when they generated a lot of interest online. I never thought so many people would like them.”

Xiaolei’s videos reveal that his family’s ducks also occasionally go to their neighbour’s and call them out before waddling away to frolic in a nearby pond.

Every afternoon, the group of 11 birds returns together, with Xiaolei’s ducks splitting off to return home while the rest keep walking until they reach the home next door.

Xiaolei, who usually works in the coastal city of Qingdao, has been staying in his hometown of Linyi since the outbreak of the coronavirus.

His hobby is now filming his ducks as they go out together every day, especially when the weather is suitable.

He said: “I can’t understanding what they’re saying to each other, but they certainly seem happy.”

Xiaolei added: “Our family has kept ducks for many years, mainly for duck eggs. We don’t farm them otherwise.”

He said he planned to continue live-stream his ducks every day while he is at home.
