This is the viral footage seen by 3 million people showing a group of innovative builders laying cable in the street using a super-quick ‘human coil’ method.

The incident was filmed in the city of Constanta on the shores of the Black Sea in south-eastern Romania and shared on Facebook by netizen ‘Ionut Trasca’ where it has been viewed 2.8 million times and shared by nearly 30,000 people.

According to reports, the workmen did not have the appropriate equipment or space to set down the cabling alongside the ditch so they organised themselves into the ‘human coil’ seen in the clip.

In the video, several members of the construction team are seen lifting the huge coil above their heads as colleagues take one end and place it in the freshly-dug ditch.

At the same time, the workmen start spinning on the spot to give their colleagues enough slack to lay the cable along the length of the allocated hole.

Netizens were impressed with the road workers’ effort. Facebook user ‘Luigi Lomuscio’ commented: “Ingenious!”

‘Luis Riveros’ said: “Whoever came up with this deserves a Nobel Prize for creativity!”

‘Sergiu Buruiana’ joked: “Someone [call] Elon Musk so he can recruit them for Tesla!”
