This viral footage shows a father beating his daughter with a stick so hard that it breaks in a bid to force his wife – the kid’s mum – to come home after she fled over alleged domestic abuse.

Authorities in Donghai County in Lianyungang, a coastal city in East China’s Jiangsu Province, arrested the parent surnamed Ge after the video went viral online with over 16 million views.

The police said Ge, 36, also ordered his children – eight and 13 – to switch places and proceeded to cane his son too.

He allegedly carried out the vile abuse on 12th July after his wife Zhang, 33, ran away from home in a bid to flee domestic abuse at the hands of her drunk spouse.

In an attempt to force his wife’s return, the intoxicated Ge is said to have forced his 13-year-old son to record him as he caned his crying eight-year-old daughter.

The two siblings were then ordered to change places, with Ge beating his teenage son as his daughter recorded, the police said.

The video – one of two sent to Zhang’s mobile phone – were shared by the mum and quickly went viral, leading to Ge’s arrest by officers with the local Wenquan Police Station.

County investigators said Ge’s wife was found with minor injuries, while both their children suffered multiple soft tissue injuries.

Police say Ge remains in custody and faces “serious punishment” for the abuse.

They added that both his children have since been placed under his wife’s custody.
