This is the moment a man throws a roasted chicken and a chair at a fleeing thief, who is promptly sent crashing into a parked vehicle by several witnesses.

The incident was filmed in the neighbourhood of Jardim Iracema in the city of Fortaleza located in the north-eastern Brazilian state of Ceara on 8th February.

According to the news site G1, despite being assaulted by flying chickens, plastic chairs and bullets, the burly suspect managed to get away and the police are trying to track him down.

In the footage, the stocky suspect, wearing a white T-shirt and motorcycle helmet, is seen taking someone’s mobile phone at the building entrance after reportedly announcing the robbery.

The thief then turns and runs as a man hurries out and throws a roasted chicken at him before grabbing a chair to launch.

Meanwhile, a woman arrives outside brandishing a firearm and gunshots are heard, apparently between her and the suspect or an unseen accomplice.

Two witnesses then prevent the stocky thief from leaving the scene on a motorbike, and drag him into a parked vehicle.

A gunshot is heard, apparently fired from close range by the woman, and two men back away from the suspect, seen arguing as the video ends.

According to G1, the suspect managed to flee the scene and the group gave chase, however to no avail, and the man remains at large.

The police are using the CCTV footage as evidence to track down the suspect as the investigation continues.
