This is the moment a motorist causes chaos by trying to stop on a busy motorway and being rear-ended by a heavy goods vehicle that sends his van spinning.

The dramatic accident happened on the Shenyang-Haikou Expressway over the city of Rui’an, which is in East China’s Zhejiang Province.

The van driver, who is surnamed Guan, suddenly slowed down and begun changing lanes after realising he was about to miss his slip road.

The dangerous stunt catches two lorries off guard and results in their drivers losing control of their respective vehicles in quick succession.

The CCTV footage shows a smaller lorry narrowly avoiding the silver van, while the heavy goods vehicle slams into the back of the stopped van.

The van spins 360 degrees and overturns before righting itself in the dizzying collision, the video shows.

Meanwhile, the smaller lorry overturns further ahead, and the heavy goods vehicle collides with the crash barriers and stops on the slip road.

Motorway authorities say the van driver, who can be seen climbing out the window of his mangle’s vehicle, survived without serious injuries thanks to his seat belt.

He has been charged with obstructing normal traffic while changing lanes – and will be 100 percent liable for the crash and the cost of repairs.
