This horrific image shows a van driver bleeding heavily from his left eye which was later removed in surgery after he was beaten up by a furious scooter rider who he knocked over.

The unnamed owner of the Chinese-made silver Changan van had collided with the scooter after the male rider violated two traffic laws in the county of Wushen in Sichuan Province in south-western China.

Traffic camera footage of the incident shows the scooter rider cutting across a chevron road marking as well as a solid yellow line before cutting across the Changan van on 22nd July.

The van driver fails to stop in time and collides with the scooter, sending the rider tumbling onto the road.

However, subsequent security footage shows the rider, who was not seriously injured, then chasing the van driver around, punching and slapping him.

The attack, which lasted a reported 10 minutes, also included the use of broken pieces of plastic from the crashes as well as a wooden stick, with the rider seen chasing the driver around before he is finally arrested by arriving police.

Authorities are seen pinning the suspect to the ground – but not before the van owner had suffered severe injuries to his left eye.

The police said the van owner later lost his eye when it was deemed irreparable and removed in emergency surgery.

The authorities have confirmed that the scooter rider will be held fully liable for the crash, and now also faces punishment for assault.
