Vaccinated First-Time Mum Fights For Her Life After Catching COVID During Childbirth In Texas

These images show how a vaccinated first-time mum is fighting for her life after she tested positive for COVID-19 during childbirth in Texas.

The mother is in hospital in the city of Killeen, which is located in central Texas, in the southern United States.

The mother, who has been named as Alexander Chandler, reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus shortly before she was due to undergo an emergency C-section.

After she gave birth to her son, who has been named Beau, she was sent home but reportedly returned to hospital a few days later because she was experiencing shortness of breath.

She was then intubated and suffered a double pneumothorax, which is when both lungs collapse.

Her husband, James Chandler, said: “I just want more time with her because I’ve never spent this amount of time without her being at home.”

He added: “We’re going up there and praying for her and I feel like that means something to her.

“You just have to have complete and utter faith and don’t look at all the negative cause there’s plenty of it.

“God has a plan. It may not be what we want it to be right now, but He has a plan for all of us.”

The newborn baby is reportedly doing better, but its mum is still said to be fighting for her life.

Her family and friends have set up a GoFundMe campaign in a bid to help with her medical expenses (https://www.gofundme.com/f/Fightingchanceforalexandbabybeau/).

At the time of writing, it had raised USD 8,385 (GBP 6,230) out of a total USD-10,000 (USD-7,420) goal, with 106 donations.
