It is the third time lucky for a 61-year-old Maryland woman after she notched up her third lottery prize in three years.

The latest victory is for a USD-50,000 (GBP-37,000) prize for the woman from the town of Chevy Chase who purchased the winning ticket in Talbert’s Ice & Beverage Service in the city of Bethesda.

All of the winning tickets that she had were purchased in the same place.

She splashed out for two USD-5 (GBP-3.74) scratchcards and said she had not bothered to rub away the panels and had simply scanned in the barcode on a ticket checker to see if she had one.

The first ticket revealed nothing but the second ticket turned out to be the winning USD-50,000 prize.

The story was all the more amazing because the woman had actually won the same amount twice in 2018.

She said that she initially could not believe it and had rushed to her car where she then scratched off the rest of the ticket to double-check that she had not made a mistake, and it was only when she could see the winning combinations that she accepted her win.

She plans to spend the money on making further improvements to her home.
