US Navy Servicewoman Desperate To Be Reunited With Grumpy Cat She Had To Leave In Bahrain

A US Navy servicewoman is desperately trying to get her mean-looking cat Mr Grumpuss home to Virginia after being forced to leave him behind on her last deployment in Bahrain.

Master at Arms Dawn Patterson called her grumpy-looking rescue cat her “security blanket” and said she is working with an NGO to bring him to Virginia as soon as possible.

The non-profit charitable organisation Paws of War (POW), which assists military members and their pets, said on its website: “Imagine being with your beloved pet in the Middle East, getting deployed back to the United States, at the last minute being told your beloved cat can’t go with you.

“That’s exactly what happened to one US Navy service member who had been stationed in Bahrain and was being deployed back home to Virginia.”

The concerned servicewoman contacted POW and it managed to find a rescue partner to temporarily foster the animal.

POW co-founder Robert Misseri said: “This is a nightmare that nobody who has pets would want to experience.

“We were lucky to have someone to foster the cat while we work to raise the funds and make the arrangements to safely get Mr Grumpuss home and reunited with his Navy officer.”

Dawn has served in the US Navy for 17 years and found her mean-looking cat during her fourth deployment overseas.

She rescued the cat and nursed him back to health. However, she was not allowed to bring Mr Grumpuss home to Virginia with her due to logistical complications.

Dawn said she is worried about her cat, whom she refers to as her “security blanket”, on the other side of the world in Bahrain.

She said: “His little grumpy face is always looking up at me when I walk in the door after a hard day at work.

“His grumpy face always makes me smile. He is my security blanket.

“I will be so appreciative if Paws of War can help bring him back to me. My baby must be lonely and confused, so I know he will be just as thrilled to see me.”

Dawn and the NGO are working hard to bring Mr Grumpuss to the US as soon as possible.
