US Lottery Player Wins USD 100, Then USD 200, Then USD 400, And Then USD 100,000 In Exceptional Winning Streak

A Virginia State Lottery player has won USD100,000 after first winning USD 100, then USD 200, and then USD 400, before finally winning the big prize in an exceptional winning streak.

The Virginia State Lottery named the winner as Jose Vasquez, who lives in Charlottesville. Vasquez was reportedly feeling lucky after he won USD 100 (GBP 74) on the scratch ticket, so he invested part of his winnings in the purchase of a second ticket, which earned him USD 200 (GBP 148).

He then purchased a third ticket and won USD 400 (GBP 295) before finally using a portion of those winnings to buy a ‘Money Maker Crossword 5X’ ticket. That ticket netted him USD 100,000 (GBP 73,900).

Vasquez told the Lottery officials: “I am happy since I have always wanted to open up my own company but did not have the funds to do so.”

The Virginia State Lottery added: “Money Maker Crossword 5X is one of dozens of Scratchers available from the Virginia Lottery. This is the third of six $100,000 prizes claimed in the Crossword 5X series, which means three top prizes remain unclaimed in this game.

“The chances of winning the top prize are 1 in 1,224,000. The chances of winning any prize in this game are 1 in 3.83.”

The Virginia state lottery added: “Authorized by Virginia voters in a successful 1987 referendum, the Virginia Lottery generates more than USD 2 million per day for Virginia’s K-12 public schools.

“In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021, lottery customers helped generate more than USD 765 million in funding for public education.
