This poor pooch has been rescued from a tar pit with a tree branch by passersby and the unfortunate dog is so unrecognisable animal workers still do not know which breed it is.
The incident took place in the city of Barnaul in the southern Russian region of Altai Krai when the “screaming” pooch was heard by passersby.
A photo of the pooch being pulled out of the tar pit was accompanied with the message: “The dog was in a poor condition and is struggling. Maybe someone is missing their four-legged friend?

“The dog is beautiful, strong and clever. I bet it would love to see its owner again.”
When the group saw the frantic dog stuck in the tar pit, reportedly for over a day, they extended a tree branch which the dog latched onto with its teeth.
The dog was pulled free, but it is said to be in a poor state and rescuers have been unable to completely remove the thick tar from its matted fur, even after many hours of using cleaning products, according to reports.

Medical checks also found that the dog has suffered poisoning from being in the tar pit for so long, however vets added that it has started to rediscover its appetite.
As the animal spent over a day in the pit, carers decided to “leave the dog alone in silence so that it could rest”.
They then trimmed its matted fur the next day to make it easier to clean the dog.
According to reports, the animal is currently being cared for at a dog shelter and it has not yet been possible to determine its breed.
