An unlucky man has badly injured his manhood after he sawed a giant bullet to make a lucky charm and it exploded at groin height.

The unnamed 44-year-old man was sawing a .50 calibre bullet to fashion an amulet at his home in the Brazilian municipality of Jaciara on the afternoon of 3rd July.

However, while he was at work, the bullet suddenly exploded, causing him to suffer several injuries to his manhood, which was very nearly blown off.

Paramedics arrived on the scene and gave the injured man first aid before taking him to hospital where he received further treatment.

Police officers also arrived on the scene at the same time, and the injured man told them he found the bullet on a nearby country road.

He told the cops he took the bullet home with him to fashion a lucky charm from it. However, when he started sawing it at groin height, it exploded.

He told the officers he was unaware that bullets could explode if sawn.

A .50 calibre bullet measures 12.7 by 99 millimetres (0.5×3.9 in).

The police are investigating the incident.
