The Faculty for Psychology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) has called for men and women aged between 18 and 35 to participate in the study on human sexuality and evaluate videos with erotic and sexual content.

A photo of the invitation has spread on social media and the number of those interested in volunteering was reportedly huge.

According to the university, the study will be carried out in a room “with complete privacy” where videos with erotic content are watched with the intention of evaluating them on a scale for 90 minutes.

Heterosexual cisgender women are required who are not on hormonal contraceptive treatments as well as cisgender homosexual men and transgender heterosexual women.

Cisgender is a term for people whose gender identity matches the sex that they were assigned at birth.

Local media report the study has been designed to evaluate the effect of estrogen treatment on the “excitation response” of heterosexual trans women with or without hormonal treatment.

Trangender women often take estrogen as part of hormonal treatment in their transition.

The study, conducted by Mauricio Saldivar, reportedly intends to create a base for future studies.

On his social media profile, Saldivar wrote that more people than he expected wrote to him asking to participate.

“You don’t know how hard it was to convince the people from UNAM about the importance of studying sexuality on its more physiological and behavioural basis.”

The project consists of grading the adult erotic content. The study, which will be done at the UNAM campus, hopes out find out about more aspects of human sexuality.
