This is the moment two drivers are seen bumping into each other’s cars during a moment of rush-hour road rage in which they used their vehicles ‘like dodgems’.

The two motorists, Hyundai owner Mr Lu and a BMW owner who has not been named, are seen damaging both their vehicles during the incident on the morning of 9th September.

Mr Lu, from Shenzhen City in South China’s Guangdong Province, said the incident began as he was turning from Jingnan Road onto Baige Road.

The owner of the black BMW alleged hooted at him to hurry up, but he ignored him “in order to obey traffic laws”, the Hyundai owner said.

Mr Lu accused the BMW driver of “taking revenge” as the pair drove through a junction.

Dashcam footage from Mr Lu’s white Hyundai shows him spotting the BMW overtaking him from the right side.

As he swears at the other motorist, his wife tells him: “Just drive. Ignore him.”

But Mr Lu inexplicably veers to the right and rams the BMW, leaving his wife screaming: “What are you doing!”

The footage shows the couple’s Hyundai then sent into a tailspin as the BMW rams them from behind.

Mr Lu’s spouse asks: “Just what are you doing?”

He responds: “He drove into me!”

As the video ends, she adds: “Why did you ram him?” while Mr Lu says: “I didn’t!”

He later told police: ““If you watch the video, it’s obvious that [the BMW owner] is driving angrily.

“He drove into me.”

Shenzhen police, who have impounded both badly damaged vehicles, contradicted Mr Lu’s version of events, ruling that he initiated first contact during the road-rage incident.

However, both he and the BMW owner have been detained for 15 days for public order offences.

They are also expected to lose their licences.

The authorities said they were still investigating the case and could hand out further punishment if more offences are found.

The police said both vehicles’ insurers would not be obliged to pay out following their lawbreaking.
