Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was the founder of the Republic of Turkey and the country’s first president while CHP refers to Turkey’s opposition party, the Republican People’s Party.

The social-democratic party, the oldest in the country, is currently led by Kemal Kilictaroglu and their flag is symbolised with ‘The Six Arrows’, also referred to in the footage.

According to local media, the video caused outrage and the local authorities began an investigation.

The police arrested three suspects and two have been placed on remand while the third member, believed to be the cameraperson, was released.

Netizen ‘Tico’ said: “We don’t beat poor, helpless people in our culture and traditions. Shame on creatures like you!”

‘Kamu Vicdani’ commented: “I think all three of them should be locked up. This is a serious crime.”

‘Adam’ wrote: “People without morals. They abuse their strength when around weak people.”
