A two-year-old girl has died after she was thrown from a second-floor apartment by her mother, who claimed demons told her to do it.

Mum Ummuhan Dumanlioglu, age not disclosed, who lives in the district of Corlu in the northwestern Turkish province of Tekirdag, left her husband Ahmet Dumanlioglu after their daughter was born.

She had then moved to her mother’s house, taking her now two-year-old daughter with her.

Dumanlioglu, who is in the process of divorce from her husband, reportedly threw her unidentified daughter out of the window of their apartment on the 2nd floor on 9th June.

The little girl was seriously injured, and medical teams were sent to the scene after locals raise the alarm.

The girl, who was given first aid by the health officials, was taken to the Corlu State Hospital, and from there taken to the Trakya University Medical Faculty Hospital in the province of Edirne.

But she eventually died despite all the efforts of the doctors on 12th June.

Dumanlioglu, who was taken into custody by the police, was arrested on the charge of deliberate killing on the orders of the court.

She told police: “On the day of the incident, my mother was in the kitchen, so I went to the living room to take my daughter. The demons came to me and told me to throw my daughter out of the window. They said that if I didn’t throw my daughter out of the window, she would go to hell.

“So I took my daughter, and I threw her out the window. Because demons told me to. I then immediately ran downstairs, picked up my daughter and brought her to my mother. She was taken to the hospital.”

Dad Ahmet Dumanlioglu, who buried his daughter in tears, has already made a formal complaint to the police.

The investigation is continuing.
