Turkish Jeweller Makes Worlds Heaviest Gold Bracelet

A Turkish jeweller has claimed to have made the heaviest gold bracelet in the world and now wants to register it with Guinness World Record.

Idris Kilic, age not disclosed, from the south-eastern Turkish city of Gaziantep, created a bracelet weighing 2.5 kilogrammes (5.5 lbs).

Idris, who had the Hagia Sophia Mosque embroidered on the bracelet, values it at TRY 1 million (GBP 91,780).

He said the bracelet’s production took three days and required great expertise and laborious work to create it as he wanted.

Idris said the Hagia Sophia Mosque engraving took an entire day, and if they continued to produce standard bracelets, they could make a thousand during the same period.

He added that he planned to make a 3-kilogramme bracelet, but that the weight deceased during processing and production.

Stating that he used four kilogrammes of pure gold to make the bracelet, Idris added: “I will make a three-kilogramme bracelet in the future.”

Idris said: “I am the first to make a bracelet this heavy, experts can come and investigate if necessary. I haven’t seen anyone who did anything like this before. I will also apply to Guinness World Records to register my gold bracelet as a world record.”
