Stunning aerial footage taken high above Turkey’s sky shows pilots performing an impressive flyover in commemoration of the anniversary.

This year marks the 108th-year anniversary of the Caucasus Campaign, otherwise known as the Sarikamish operation – one of the most tragic events during World War I.

Tens of thousands of Ottoman soldiers froze to death in the Caucasian winter after Enver Pasha led the army through harsh winter conditions in an attempted surprise attack against the Russian empire.

Turkey now holds annual commemorations in honour of the many fallen soldiers who died during the Sarikamish Operation, which took place between 22nd December 1914 and 17th January 1915.
