Trans Couple Expecting Second Child Shortly After Arrival Of First

A trans man is pregnant again a few months after he and his partner, a trans woman, welcomed their first child into the world.

Trans man Rodrigo Bryan, 34, gave birth to daughter Isabella Victoria in April. He is now one and a half months pregnant with his and his partner’s second child.

His partner, trans woman Ellen Carine, told G1: “It was a huge surprise, we wanted another, but in a year or two. It was a wanted pregnancy, but it wasn’t being planned for this moment.”

The couple, who live in the Brazilian city of Montes Claros, said they were surprised at the second pregnancy for two reasons.

The first is that they were trying for six months before Rodrigo became pregnant with Isabella. The second is that they take hormones, which makes pregnancy difficult. Despite this, Isabella was born normally and healthy.

Rodrigo and Ellen are active on social media, where they have over a million followers. Rodrigo alone boasts one million followers on TikTok, where his videos on pregnancy and fatherhood often rack up millions of views.

Ellen told G1: “Representing LGBTQIA+ people is a huge joy. As much as there are times when we feel like deactivating all our accounts and disappearing, because of the attacks, we receive accounts from people who see us as inspiration. Knowing you inspire someone is gratifying and makes all our efforts worthwhile.

“We have mothers who send us messages saying that they set an example to their children. This encouragement to accept diversity gives me more peace of mind and security, because it is these women’s children who will live with my daughter in the future.”
