This is the moment a speeding train hits an Egyptian tuk-tuk, severely injuring the passengers after the driver’s colleague manually raised the barrier.
The accident was filmed at the Al-Negili crossing in the Egyptian capital Cairo, and three people were injured.
The driver reportedly remains in a critical condition while a woman and a girl were also injured in the incident, however, there have been no updates on their current health status.
Following a preliminary investigation, the police said that a driver had lifted the barrier to the level crossing before his colleague in a similar tuk-tuk ventured across the track without noticing the train approaching at high speed.
The train dragged the tuk-tuk along the track for a long-distance, according to the news site Al Arabiya.
In the footage, a tuk-tuk driver is seen raising the barrier to the level crossing before getting back in his vehicle.
Meanwhile, the driver next to him moves forwards and suddenly stops on the track.
A speeding train approaches and crashes into the tuk-tuk, dragging it along the track as a group of onlookers gather at the scene.
According to Al Arabiya, Egypt has seen several train crashes recently resulting in dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries.
Egyptian Minister of Transport Kamel Al-Wazir has since vowed to introduce measures to prevent accidents and develop the rail system, including removing markets next to train lines.
