TRAGIC TOT: Girl, 4, Dies After Being Forgotten On School Bus For 8 Hours On Scorching Day

A four-year-old girl has tragically died after she was forgotten on the school bus for eight hours on a scorching day.

The tragic incident, in which the girl was inadvertently locked on the bus from 8:30 AM until 3 PM, took place in Tomajmonostora, a village in Jasz-Nagykun-Szolnok county, in the Northern Great Plain region of central Hungary, on Tuesday, 7th June.

She had been picked up from her parents to be taken to nursery school but the driver allegedly forgot her on the bus and no one heard her calls for help as the 50-degree Celsius temperature slowly heated up the parked vehicle.

The young girl, named in reports as Flora Inez, was unconscious but still alive when she was eventually found.

The Hungarian National Ambulance Service said: “Medics transported a four-year-old girl in a life-threatening condition to the hospital by helicopter.”

Suffering from heatstroke, she fought for her life for three days in intensive care in the hospital in Debrecen, the capital of Hungary’s Northern Great Plain region, but she sadly died.

Flora was from the village of Tiszaderzs, also in Jasz-Nagykun-Szolnok county.

Her parents, reportedly named as Eszter and Zoltan Kovacs, are heartbroken.

The bus driver, who has been named only as Istvan T., 56, due to strict local privacy laws, is now reportedly receiving psychological treatment at a facility in Szolnok after suffering a nervous breakdown.

The police have reportedly opened a criminal case and the municipality, which employs the bus driver, has launched an internal investigation.
