A man from the USA has taken his own life after he allegedly kidnapped and stabbed his own toddler daughter to death.

Alexander Ordonez Barrios, 24, from the city of Rosenberg, in Texas, USA, had reportedly stabbed himself and his daughter Leylani Brooklyn Ordonez, aged 1, on Wednesday, 2nd November.

His ex-partner and the girl’s mother identified as Nicole Macias claimed that he had become psychologically unstable after they decided to separate two months ago.

She had reportedly allowed him to take care of little Leylani even after their break up when she was at work as Ordonez Barrios was unemployed and looking for a job.

But she eventually found herself a babysitter after the 24-year-old man began to threaten his own life.

She said: “I’d never thought he would be the type to hurt her.

“When we split up, he wasn’t mentally stable, talking about killing himself. I didn’t want my daughter around that.”

Unable to cope with the separation Ordonez Barrios stopped at his former workplace, the Riverside Auto Collision Center, on Tuesday, 1st November.

He then reportedly stabbed his former employer and fled away with one of the company’s tow trucks.

Officers from Rosenberg Police Department responded to a call regarding an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon at around 5:51pm the same day.

They said: “The owner of the business reported he was stabbed multiple times and his tow truck was stolen by a former employee.

“The victim was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive.”

But by the time they arrived the offender had reportedly headed towards the babysitter’s home where he showed the poor woman out of the way and ran away after her grabbed the baby.

She told local media: “It was kind of cold because it was raining, and he didn’t let her put a jacket on or anything. He just took her.”

Officers claimed: “Ordonez Barrios left the scene in the stolen tow truck and drove to an apartment complex (810 Brooks Avenue) in Rosenberg and forced his way into an apartment where his one-year-old daughter was being cared for by a babysitter.

“Ordonez Barrios forcefully took one-year-old Leylani Ordonez, and left the apartment in the stolen tow truck.”

Some time later Sugar Land police located the Riverside company vehicle after authorities put out an Amber Alert for Leylani and the father.

They reportedly chased Ordonez Barrios for 45 minutes through Fort Bend County, before they finally ended the pursuit using spike strips.

But when Ordonez Barrios stepped out of the truck with his daughter cops realised that both he and the child were stabbed.

The police reported: “When Ordonez Barrios exited the vehicle with Leylani, it was apparent that he caused significant injuries to her as well as himself.

“Officers quickly rushed to provide life-saving measures to both the child and suspect.

“Leylani was rushed to local hospital where she was declared deceased as a result of multiple stab wounds.

“Ordonez Barrios was also transported and declared deceased at the hospital as a result of self-inflicted injuries.”

Police Chief Jonathan White said: “It is astonishing how many lives can be devastated by the actions of one individual.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that transpired, our thoughts are with Leylani Ordonez’ family and we wish those affected at Riverside Towing a speedy recovery.

“I would like to thank FBCSO, SLPD, and DPS for their assistance with this tragedy.

“I’m saddened by the details of this case and ask that you keep the family and first responders that witnessed this event in your prayers.”

Meanwhile, friends of the family initiated a GoFundMe campaign to cover Leylani’s funeral costs on Thursday, 3rd November.
