The horrifying incident unfolded on a railway line in Racine, Wisconsin, USA on Sunday morning (8th January).

Police say victim Jazlene Jones was breaking up with her boyfriend, also aged 14, when he pulled a revolver and shot her in the eye.

As she begged for her life, the jilted thug is reported to have said: “You have to die.”

Chillingly, he aimed the gun at her again and shot her in the head between two and four more times, according to various sources.

Terrified Jazlene was able to run to a road and alert a passing driver, who called emergency services.

She was taken to hospital in Milwaukee by air ambulance.

Suspect Elia Olsen was later seized by police.

Bizarrely, he told police during questioning that he had opened fire “in a fit of rage over a Snapchat post and the breakup”.

Mum Miranda Perales revealed that her daughter is now in good spirits despite receiving the terrible news that she will be blind in one eye.

Her family described it as a “miracle” that her brain function was not impacted and her carotid artery was not severed.

Miranda said her daughter had dated Olsen for more than one year and she had not noticed any concerning signs.

She was unaware he had access to a firearm.

Olsen is being held in a juvenile detention centre on remand and is due to appear in court next week.

He has been charged as an adult with attempted first-degree intentional homicide. His bail has been set at USD 500,000.

If found guilty, he could face up to 60 years behind bars.

On an online fundraising page, organiser Jessica Rivera wrote: “As many of you know Jazlene was a victim to a senseless act of violence that almost took her life.

“A young man took her life into his own hands and shot her 5 times in her head.

“At 14 years old, this baby will now have to go through life through one eye and live with bullets in her neck and head.

“She went through a major surgery and has more procedures to come. She is living proof of God’s miracles and has a long road to recovery.

“Due to this unforeseen circumstance her mom Miranda will have to stop working to be Jazlene’s caretaker and is also a single mom of three.

“Please consider helping her mother Miranda in any way you can. Prayers are always appreciated.”

At the time of writing it had raised USD 4,940 of its USD-10,000 goal.
