A Harley Davidson rider survived being shot in the head by bike-jackers after the bullet simply bounced off his helmet.

His helmet cam caught the drama as it unfolded on the BR-116 federal highway in Itapecerica da Serra, Sao Paulo state, south-eastern Brazil on 20th October.

The footage shows the moment when the 42-year-old rider on his 2021 Harley Davidson Ultra Limited – worth BRL140,000 (GBP 23,300) – came under fire from crooks on a Honda bike.

The victim survived without a scratch when the shot fired by the gunman riding pillion hit his helmet, bounced off, and struck the dashboard of his motorcycle instead.

Despite the attempt on his life, the heroic biker refused to hand his vehicle over to the crooks and continued all the way to Curitiba, Parana state, southern Brazil.

There, he took part in a charity event where he and other bikers he had been travelling with donated groceries for low-income people.

It was also there that he showed the remarkable footage to his pals, who later shared it online.

One of those who saw the footage was Itapecerica da Serra police officer Luiz Roberto Hellmeister, who filed a report.

He managed to identify the crooks from the partially-covered numberplate of their motorcycle, leading to their arrests at their respective homes.

Their names were not disclosed, but the rider’s age was given as 22 and the gunman’s as 17.

They will be charged with attempted robbery and attempted murder.

The adult will be remanded in custody, while the teenager will be held in a youth detention centre.
