This image of a seven-year-old boy in floods as tears as he holds a missing sign for his pet pooch has touched the hearts of netizens.

The boy named Jonathan, 7, lost his pet dog Ryder in a neighbourhood known as Los Magueyes in the state of San Luis Potosi in central Mexico.

Reports said that the pooch was adopted when it was a two-week-old puppy. Jonathan lost it on 2nd March when he went for a family walk with the dog and the pooch suddenly went missing.

The snap shows the boy in floods of tears as he holds a piece of paper with the message “Se busca” (missing) and a picture of his dog.

Another image of the white dog was also posted online and the pictures were shared by a web site dedicated to promoting the adoption of pets along with the message: “This little child is looking for his friend Ryder, he walks the streets crying without being able to find him, cheer up little one, you will find him.”

Netizen ‘Alexander_cortz’ wrote: “I hope the boy finds his best friend, I cannot imagine losing your best furry friend.”

Twitter user ‘Alfonsos1945’ said: “This boy is full of noble feelings if someone knows something or has seen it please call.”

The family has said they are helping the boy to find his pet by taking him around the city and posting missing signs.
