This moment – seen over a million times online – shows a kindly shopkeeper covering a parked car’s open window after it suddenly starts pouring with rain.

CCTV images supplied to Asia Wire show the black saloon car parked in front of a row of shops during the rainstorm on 26th March.

Shopkeeper Cen Liyin, from the town of Xinpu in Cixi City in East China’s Zhejiang Province, rushes out with a cardboard box and places it over the open window, preventing the interior from being soaked by rainwater.

Mr Cen, who runs a mobile phone repair business, had his simple kind act captured on CCTV, which quickly went viral after appearing online at the weekend.

He told local media: “That night it suddenly started pouring down with rain. The car in front of my shop had its passenger-side window open, and I didn’t want the inside of the car to get too wet.

“When I couldn’t locate the owner, I tried to get my hands on an umbrella. But I couldn’t find one, so I ripped open a cardboard box in my shop.”

Mr Cen secured the cardbox on the window using the wing mirror nearby.

He then posted an image of the vehicle online in hopes one of the locals who follows him would recognise the car.

Sure enough, the car’s grateful owner arrived 20 minutes later to shut the window.
