This is the heartwarming moment a Tom and Jerry-style stray cat and mouse put their differences aside and enjoy a delicious. chicken dinner together.

Cafe owner Betul Tikbas, 24, had put out some food for a stray cat outside her cafe in the city of Bursa in north-western Turkey’s province of the same name.

But to her surprise, the black cat had an unexpected dinner guest when a mouse came over and sat next to it, according to local media.

Ms Tikbas grabbed her smartphone to film the cat and the mouse eating side-by-side from a foil tray in the street.

And at one point the cheeky mouse decided it did not want to share the meal and even chased the cat away.

But the rodent later generously allowed the stray cat to resumes its place at its side to polish off the last of the food.

Ms Tikbas, who often feeds stray animals from her cafe in the Osmangazi district of the city, said: “There are many stray cats in this area because we always leave food for them in front of the cafe. 

“But this is the first time we saw a mouse. It seemed to be injured, it was moving slowly. But it wasn’t scared of anybody. Even the cat got scared of the mouse and ran away. 

“Then all of a sudden they started eating food from the same plate. Many passersby gathered to see it. Everybody recorded them with their phones but they didn’t move away.” 

Turkey has hundreds of thousands of stray cats and dogs. Many locals love them and put out food and shelter for them, especially in the colder months.
