This is the moment a lucky toddler being knocked to the ground and trapped under a huge lorry cheats death when the vehicle grinds to a halt seconds before crushing the tot.

The incident took place in the city of Cali, in the southwestern Colombian department of Valle del Cauca and was recorded by a CCTV camera.

In the video, a toddler, who has not been identified in reports but appears to be around two years old, is playing in front of a huge blue lorry and comes to standstill before the vehicle suddenly started moving.

The boy is knocked to the ground by the lorry whose driver seemingly did not spot the tot and the vehicle drives over him.

The boy can be seen lying on the ground under the lorry and the driver stops the vehicle just moments before the tyres were about to crush the youngster.

The driver then sprints towards the boy and lifts him to safety before carrying him away from the lorry.

Local media report the boy survived but it is unclear if he suffered any injuries.

Netizen ‘edy’ said: “Distraction of the parents, you should never leave kids walking around alone, you should always be able to see them, not only the driver who is high up and cannot see the kid properly, but you should take precautions.”
