This is the moment a tipper truck overturns and crashes onto the road just as a car passes and narrowly avoids being flattened.

The incident took place in the district of Uskudar in the north-western Turkish city of Istanbul when the lorry was being unloaded onsite.

Reports said that the vehicle was loaded with stones for an environmental planning project, however the weight distribution forced the dump truck to keel over.

Moments before the tipper truck overturned and sent its loads spilling on the road, a car passed by and narrowly avoided being flattened.

The unnamed car driver told local media: “I had a lucky last-second escape. I was passing when the lorry started to overturn and if I had braked I would have been buried under the rubble.”

Local residents called the emergency services who arrived on the scene and had to rescue the lorry driver who was trapped in the cab, according to reports.

There have been no further updates on the driver’s condition.

The incident was filmed by a nearby CCTV camera and footage shows the moment the tipper is being raised and the hydraulic arm bends under the weight of the heavy load.

The vehicle then crashes to the ground on its side, narrowly missing a passing white car.

The police investigation is ongoing.
