This is the moment a tiny mouse sparks mass panic aboard a packed city bus after the cuddly critter jumps through the air before scurrying under a seat.

The incident was filmed in the city of Belem in the north-eastern Brazilian state of Para and was later shared on Facebook where it has been viewed 184,000 times and shared by 4,300 netizens.

In the footage, the furry fellow is seen sitting on a window hinge as bus passengers shriek in shock.

One ‘brave’ passenger slides the window open to let the mouse escape, but instead of fleeing the bus, it leaps among the front rows.

People are heard screaming and moving from their seats as the rodent apparently scurries under their seats.

The local transport authority said that they were unaware of the incident, while the transport union said that “cleaning is carried out by each bus company and is not organised by the union itself”.

Netizen ‘Joyce Moreira’ commented: “Oh my God, how terrifying. If I were there, I swear I would have jumped off the bus!”

‘Eduarda Martins’ said: “They did not kill it, right? I hope not, at least put a plastic bag over your hand, catch it and let it out somewhere safe. I don’t get why everyone is so scared.”
