This is the moment a man is brutally beaten by a gang of thugs who kick him in the head and jump on his body as he lies motionless in the middle of a road.

The clip, which has been widely shared on social media, was reportedly recorded during the Carnival celebrations in the city centre of Jiutepec in the state of Morelos in central Mexico.

The footage shows a man being punched to the ground before a gang of thugs begin kicking him in the body and head. Some of the thugs can be seen jumping on the victim as he lies motionless and face-down in the middle of the road.

Several people are heard shouting “stop it, that is enough” while the gang beats him before they flee the scene in a white car.

According to local media, the man was left unconscious. His current health condition is unknown.

It is unclear if the police or the emergency services went to the scene and no arrests have been reported. No motive has been provided for the aggression.

Reports claim that the police of Morelos intervened in another brawl close to the scene in the city centre where the man was beaten that same morning as the celebrations for the Carnival were going on.

No people were reportedly injured in the morning fight.
