This is the moment a pair of thugs brutally rob a man by stabbing him several times before repeatedly whacking him with a huge hammer on the ground.

The brutal robbery took place at around midnight on 12 December in a neighbourhood known as Parque Hidalgo in the city of Leon in the Mexican state of Guanajuato in central Mexico.

In the footage, a man can be seen walking up the stairs to a building when two thugs come up behind him. The thugs try to take the man’s rucksack but when he resists one of the criminals begins stabbing him with what appears to be a knife.

The victim does not let go so the other thug hits him with a metal hammer. One of the criminals then runs off with the bag whilst his accomplice begins repeatedly beating the victim on the ground with the hammer.

Local media report the victim was hit up to 15 times with the hammer.

It is unknown if the victim was helped or if the criminals have been arrested. It is unclear what the rucksack contained.

It is unclear if a police investigation has been launched. The victim’s status is currently unclear.
