This is the moment a woman is thrown to ground by a hooded thug and beaten as she holds onto her handbag in a brutal robbery on the Barcelona underground.
The footage was recorded by security cameras in the Navas station on the metro network of Barcelona in the autonomous community of Catalonia in north-eastern Spain.
In the video, a woman can be seen at the barriers in the station when a hooded man comes up behind her and yanks at her handbag.
The woman is thrown to the ground by the force of the tug and the thief then drags the woman across the ground by the bag.
The woman continues holding onto the bag and covers her face as the thug kicks and punches her.
He then drags the woman off-camera and local media report he then stabbed her with a knife.
The victim, whose name was not reported, is said to have been injured in the incident although her life is not at risk.
The main public transit operator in the city Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has confirmed on Twitter that they have launched an investigation together with the Catalonian police (Mossos D’Esquadra) to identify and arrest the criminal.
No arrests have been reported.
