Thrill-Seekers Left Stranded At Height On Malfunctioning Rollercoaster

Thrill-seekers got more than they bargained for after they were left stranded at a height when the rollercoaster they were on malfunctioned and came to a halt on a slope.

The footage shows how a worker leads some of the ride-goers down the steep slope on foot after the Montezum rollercoaster at the Hopi Hari theme park was brought to a technical stop.

Nobody was hurt in the incident that took place at the theme park, which is located in the town of Vinhedo in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, on Saturday, 11th December.

The footage shows how one of the ride-goers holds a piece of the rollercoaster that came loose and broke free above his head while others make an ‘X’ sign with their arms.

According to the theme park, the broken part the man was holding above his head on the 44-metre- (144-foot-) high ride was the safety lock that was meant to be securing him in place.

The ride operators brought the ride to a stop after the lock broke free and the other ride-goers made the ‘X’ sign with their hands, as per protocol, to request it be halted immediately.

Eventually, workers had to lead the ride-goers down the steep slope on foot, as the rollercoaster is not able to travel in reverse.

According to the theme park president Alexandre Rodrigues, it took an hour to fix the rollercoaster, which resumed service the following day.

The theme park has assured the public the ride is inspected daily.
