The Voice Contestant Rescued After Being Kidnapped

This former contestant on ‘The Voice’ has been rescued after raising the alarm on social media that she had been kidnapped.

Pamela Lua Castro was reportedly kidnapped on Friday afternoon in the city of Oaxaca, in the southern Mexican state of the same name and taken to the Primero de Mayo government housing complex by a single suspect.

Reports state the criminal had pretended to be a producer and music reporter from a magazine before kidnapping the singer.

Local media report Castro, whose age has not been reported, managed to inform her friends that she had been kidnapped via social media and they began an alert, sharing the news online.

The local authorities were informed and the singer, who took part in ‘The Voice Argentina in 2018’, was rescued that same evening in a police operation.

A suspect named Luis G. was arrested but it is unclear if he has been charged.

The singer wrote on social media after her rescue: “Today, 8th March, I can say ‘thank you’ because I am alive, because they didn’t silence my voice or my will to live and I can continue doing what I love.”

She also thanked the authorities and her friends for helping rescue her so quickly, praising the role of social media in her rescue.

The motive for the kidnapping is currently unclear.
