Texas Woman Shoots Daughters Grandmother Dead In Starbucks Car Park Over Custody

A Texas woman has been arrested for fatally shooting her child’s grandmother in a Starbucks car park.

The incident took place at a Starbucks in the city of Richardson in the US state of Texas at around 7.10pm on 18th April,

The police have charged Tranisa Octavin Trana Watts, 23, for killing Kentoria Nicole Edwards, 52, the legal guardian of her child, over a custody row.

The victim, the child’s grandmother who raised her for most of her life, went to the Starbucks coffeehouse to meet Watts after she asked to see her daughter, named as Jordyn Page.

The suspect allegedly shot Edwards in front of the child and tried to leave with her but was apprehended by Richardson cops on the scene.

The Richardson Police Department (RPD) said on 19th April: “Patrol officers quickly responded to the parking lot of Starbucks located at 4151 E. Renner Rd. at 7:12 p.m. on April 18, 2022, when witnesses called 911 about a shooting.

“The first officer to arrive spotted the identified suspect, Watts, attempting to leave the location with a child and apprehended her.

“Additional officers arriving located the victim, Edwards, and immediately began life saving measures after observing a gunshot wound.”

Paramedics arrived on the scene and transferred Edwards to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The police confirmed the child was unharmed in the incident.

The RPD stated: “The resulting investigation determined the victim, Nicole Edwards, is the grandmother of Watts’ child and had full custody.

“Watts requested to see her child and Edwards agreed they could meet at the location. During the visit, Watts pulled out a handgun and shot Edwards and attempted to leave with the child.”

Watts is reportedly being held in custody on a USD-1 million bond as the investigation continues.
