A Texas church minister has been arrested for sexually assaulting a teenage girl.
First Baptist Church of Wylie Junior High Minister Timothy Wells was arrested in Wylie, a city and north-eastern suburb of Dallas, in Collin County, in the southern US state of Texas, for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
The Collin County Sheriff’s Office released a statement saying: “On December 12, 2021, a staff-member of First Baptist Church of Wylie contacted the Collin County Sheriff’s Office to report an allegation of sexual assault.

“The allegation was leveled at another staff-member and the assault was alleged to have occurred at an off-site location, not at the church.”
The police added: “During the course of their investigation, Collin County Sheriff’s Office Investigators identified a 15 year-old female victim who disclosed that she had been inappropriately touched by First Baptist Church of Wylie Junior High Minister Timothy Wells.”
The police said that the church had placed the employee on leave and then fired him. The police statement said: “First Baptist Church of Wylie officials immediately placed Wells on leave and later terminated his employment. Timothy Wells had been a church employee since January, 2019.”

The police added that they had charged Wells with indecency with a child by sexual contact, saying: “Collin County Sheriff’s Office Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Timothy Wells charging him with Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, a second-degree felony.
“Wells turned himself into the Collin County Detention Facility today where he was booked and is being held in lieu of a USD 25,000.00 bond.
