Teenagers Laugh At Pals In The Water Unaware That They Are Drowning

This is the moment people standing on the bank laugh as two teens try to retrieve a football from a canal, unaware that they are struggling to stay afloat and a short while later they drown.

The incident took place in the neighbourhood of Compensa in the Brazilian city of Manaus on the evening of Monday 12th July.

According to witnesses, a group of teenage boys had been having a kick-about nearby when their ball ended up in the canal.

Two of the friends went in to retrieve it, but they ended up struggling in the water and eventually disappeared below the surface.

The footage of the two struggling to stay afloat was filmed by one of their friends. He can initially be heard laughing and joking with the rest of the group before they realise the pair is in trouble.

One of the friends is heard asking in the background: “Why did he go in if he doesn’t know how to swim?”

According to reports, a third person then went into the stream to try to help his friends and he also got into trouble in the water.

He ended up being rescued by locals and taken to a local emergency hospital where he was seen to by doctors.

The police were called to the scene, but by the time they arrived, the two teens could no longer be seen.

Firemen also arrived after nightfall. At the time of reporting, they were conducting searches for the missing teens but had not yet found them.

The two teens, whose identities have not been divulged, are presumed dead.
