The teenage Princess who is heir to the Dutch throne will be getting over GBP 4k a day when she turns 18 in December next year, it has been revealed.
The Princess of Orange, Catharina-Amalia Beatrix Carmen Victoria, currently aged 16, is the heir apparent to the throne of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, consisting of the countries of the Netherlands, Curacao, Aruba, and Sint Maarten.
As the presumptive successor of the king, Amalia is entitled to constitutional benefits from the date of her 18th birthday which is on 7th December 2021.
According to national newspaper AD, the estimate published last year set the yearly allowance at EUR 1,587,000 (GBP 1.464,000).
This was broken down in a personal income of 282,000 EUR (260,802 GBP) and the cost of personnel and material expenses of EUR 1,305,000 (GBP 1,204,000).
As she was born on 7th December 2003, she will be 18 for 24 days in 2021, which means she will be entitled to EUR 107,000 (GBP 98,600).
That works out at EUR 4,458 (GBP 4,104) per day.
Exactly how much the young royal will receive in 2022 will not be known until the next Budget Day in September 2021.
According to AD, the issue of Princess Amalia’s’ allowance has been a source of contention in parliament in recent years and is expected to cause controversy during the discussion of the budget of the House of the King, which falls under the portfolio of the Prime Minister, as Minister of General Affairs.
However, the allowance is reportedly part of the Constitution and the amounts and system have already been approved by parliament and laid down in the Financial Statute of the Royal House.
