This is the moment a teenager is shot dead by two gunmen while carrying 20,000 GBP on him in the company of armed police officers.

Victor Baru, 19, was killed on 28th January while carrying 500,000 MXN (20,520 GBP) in cash to his home in the municipality of Venustiano Carranza located in the central Mexican capital Mexico City.

He was reportedly shot dead by men he knew while being driven home by a police escort with takings from the family’s butcher business.

He had reportedly told the police escort he recognised two of the people who were attacking them before leaving the patrol car.

A spokesperson for the city’s Secretariat of Security and Civilian Protection department told local media: “The young man told the police that he knew two of the assailants and the officers called for backup.

“When the patrol vehicle was blocked in on the road, the victim ran out of the car towards his house.”

In the CCTV footage, the teen, apparently wearing a hoodie, is seen sprinting away from the parked patrol car towards the pavement.

In that moment, at least two men appear to run towards him and the closest suspect reportedly shoots him.

Meanwhile, one cop is seen drawing his weapon and firing at the suspect who manages to run off down the street before being joined by his accomplice.

The cop then falls to the ground, but gets back on his feet despite reportedly being shot four times.

A figure in a black hoodie on the right of the screen appears to shoot in the direction of the officer on the ground but he has not been identified in reports.

Officer Reinado Ortiz said he called for backup on the radio and tried to prevent the teenager from being killed by the armed assailants.

He sustained four bullet wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital, according to local media.

Reports said that around 30 officers arrived and cordoned off the area to gather evidence.

The victim’s stepfather told the police that they were attacked back in September 2019 and have sometimes had to a private security team since then, according to local media.

The investigation is ongoing.
