This Israeli teen songstress has sparked fury in her homeland after appearing in a TV advertisement dressed in a US military uniform just months after joining the Israeli Defence Forces.

According to local media, head of the IDF’s Manpower Directorate, Maj.-Gen. Moti Almoz, has launched a probe in a bid to find out who allowed Noa Kirel to wear the foreign uniform.

Kirel appeared in an advertisement for Yes+, a streaming service offered by Israeli pay-TV firm, Yes.

The advert which saw her drafted into the US army sparked controversy with some branding the public figure’s appearance a “disgrace”.

Military commentator Yoav Limor tweeted: “Kirel’s advertisement is a disgrace, the use of the uniforms is a disgrace, the fact that the IDF does nothing about it is a shame. I really appreciate her decision to volunteer, but if that’s the price then thanks but no thanks.”

Kirel hit the headlines earlier this year when she took a break from her life as pop star to enlist in the IDF.

Ex- IDF spokesman Avi Benyahu told Israeli TV: “The advertisement got to me because of the use of a uniform and a weapon that wasn’t for the benefit of the IDF.”

He added that army officials did not know that the star was taking part in the advert.

Upon conclusion of the investigation, the IDF has said that it is refining procedures relating to the star’s work outside the IDF.
