In the end, the teen hacks a melon at the same store.

The Belarusian Investigative Committee told the media that a security guard promptly reported the offender to law enforcement.

Olga Chemodanova, an official spokesperson for the Interior Ministry added: “The young man did not react to the repeated demands of the police to abandon the axe and voluntarily surrender, and continued to move towards the law enforcement officers.”

He reportedly only stopped after the police fired a few warning shots in the air, and was subsequently detained.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the extent of the damage.

The boy was charged with ‘hooliganism’, which is a criminal offence in Belarus and a carries a prison sentence of up to three years.

The teenager is now in custody.

His motives remain unclear.
