Teen Plunged To Death After Dropping Phone From Loo

A 16-year-old plunged nearly 70ft to his death trying to retrieve his mobile phone after dropping it from an apartment loo window.

Victim Roberto Miron had been using the bathroom at his grandmother’s apartment in the city of Vicenza, in the region of Veneto, northern Italy, when he dropped his mobile from the open window.

When he saw it had landed on the balcony of the apartment below he climbed down to retrieve it.

But as he clambered back up a drainpipe he slipped, report local media, and fell 20 metres (65 feet) to the ground to his death on 21st March.

Investigators are reportedly ruling out that Roberto killed himself or was the victim of a social media challenge.

Police are now studying the contents of his phone which was seriously damaged in the fall.

Local media report that his family had been visiting his grandmother’s apartment to discuss plans for his 17th birthday, which would have been eight days after his death.

Hundreds of people from the local community attended a commemorative mass and his funeral.

His classmates from the city’s G. B. Quadri scientific secondary school released dozens of purple balloons at the end of the ceremony.
