A teenager suspected of killing his gay lover in a derelict Nazi bunker has been arrested after buying ice cream with his victim’s bank card.
Accused Kevin R., 19, is now the prime suspect for the murder victim Daniel Pester whose body was discovered in the building in Leipzig, Germany, in July.
His body was gagged and shackled in the long-abandoned building used in World War II and had been hidden under a slab of concrete.
Now two months later, Saxony State police say Kevin R. has been arrested after using 25-year-old Daniel’s bank card to buy ice cream, reports German media.
Police originally began looking for Kevin R. after they began to unravel his victim’s string of gay lovers and found that he was the most recent boyfriend.
Daniel’s body was found by a photographer taking pictures of the derelict Nazi-era building, once used as a warehouse.
Police believe the pair had rowed over money.
Daniel, who has always struggled to make ends meet, had a criminal record for fraud, say local media.
He reportedly took drugs and used other people’s identities to order products online, and got by often by staying with the men he started a relationship with. Most recently, Daniel spent his nights on a camper bed set up in the office of one of his elderly lovers.
Investigators assume Kevin snapped when he found out that David had tried to betray him financially.
One of Kevin’s mates told local media on 18th September: “Kevin mistrusted Daniel from the start. Kevin would never allow Daniel to stay at his place alone.”
Accused Kevin P. remains in custody. His trial is not expected to start before 2024.
