Officers from Amarillo Police Department arrested 19-year-old Ashley Harper on 1st March over the fatal incident at a home in the city of Amarillo, Texas State, on 21st February.

On that date, emergency services had been called to the home over reports of an infant who had stopped breathing.

Amarillo Police Department said: “A two-month-old female was deceased at that location when responders arrived. As with all infant deaths, the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit was called to investigate the incident.

“During the investigation, evidence was found to place the mother, 19-year-old Ashley Harper, under arrest for Injury to a Child.”

Now Harper is facing a murder charge after she allegedly confessed during questioning that she had hit Eva Salene Diaz on her head with her hand.
