This teenage mum was raped and strangled to death with her own trousers, allegedly by a man she met at a birthday party and who then dumped her dead body in a field, where it was eventually found by children playing.
Brisa Abril Formoso Sobrado, 19, who was the mother of a young child, was found dead in a field in the town of Ranelagh near the city of Berazategui, in Buenos Aires province, in eastern Argentina, on Sunday 14th November, according to local media outlet Infobae.
Brisa was reported missing by her mum the morning after she did not return from a birthday party in the neighbouring town of Guillermo Enrique Hudson on Friday, 12th November.
An investigation was launched and her body was recovered on Sunday in an overgrown field.
However, her body was not found by the cops but by a group of children playing in the field, which drew condemnation from family and friends of Brisa, who claim the authorities did not take the case seriously, according to local media outlet MinutoUno.
The victim attended the party with her cousin, who told cops that Brisa left the party at around 5.30 am with a man named in reports as Hugo Ivan Morales, 23, who lives in the neighbouring town of Platanos, and whom she had met for the first time that night.
The cops found Morales and reportedly discovered that he had several scratches on his arm that may have been caused by Brisa trying to defend herself from the attack.
The suspect was not able to explain how he got the scratches, according to Infobae.
Despite allegedly washing all of his clothes to hide the evidence, a forensics team found several bloodstains, according to MinutoUno.
He was arrested and charged with homicide aggravated by gender violence. Police also reportedly searched his home, still according to MinutoUno.
Brisa’s body is currently undergoing an autopsy, with preliminary results suggesting she was sexually abused and strangled to death with her own trousers while trying to fight off her attacker.
The victim’s family have slammed the local police, claiming that when they went to the scene of the crime to identify Brisa’s body, they were fired upon with rubber bullets by police officers.
The suspect could face life in prison if convicted.
